Tillandsia rubrispica
Peter Tristram ... "About 30 yrs ago I imported T. rubrispica from Pam (then sp. nova I think) flowered it after quite a few yrs and a photo is on the dvd. I had two originally, both blooming, and I still have adventitious pups of these that are slowly growing – some collectors will also have it from me many moons ago. In 2006 I purchased a reasonably large plant from Lydia, as potentially rubrispica or a similar species, which has decided to bloom. It is now a very large plant over 1m tall and just has to be T. rubrispica. I removed a couple of adventitious pups a few yrs ago and it hasn’t produced any more. Hopefully it will set seed but my grandchild will be the one to admire the offspring I’d say!"
