Tillandsia Tabasco
concolor x capitata 'rubra' by John Arden, California.
From BCR ... "Note the similarity to the pollen parent of 'Phoenix' but 'Tabasco' has a denser layer of trichomes caused by a different parent. Note here the problems caused by the indiscriminate use of the word "rubra" which covers a whole range of the very variable T. capitata. This is a reluctant bloomer--violet petals. Rosette to 43 cms. diameter x 32 cms. tall in spike."

Ray Clark ... "Greg Aizlewood, looks like your plant needs a bit of sunlight to colour up?"
Greg Aizlewood ... "Yes it could do with some more. I have it under some polyicarbonate at present which needs cleaning. Will sneak it out into a bit more light. The clone that came from John Arden grows a little larger than this one and prefers shadier conditions otherwise the leaves tend to quill under my conditions. T. 'Hidden Charm' does not like the sun at all up here."
