Plant stoloniferous.
Leaves about 30 in a dense spreading rosette, 20-30 cm long, chartaceous, laxly and inconspicuously lepidote;
Sheaths broadly elliptic, 12 cm long, 9 cm wide, pale green;
Blades ligulate, broadly rounded and apiculate, 5-6 cm wide, laxly and minutely denticulate, pale green with reddish spots.
Scape 35 mm long;
Scape-bracts lower ones subrounded, acuminate, greenish, the upper forming an involucre about the inflorescence, triangular, acute, membranaceous, green.
Inflorescence simple, corymbiform, ca. 30-flowered, 4 cm in diameter.
Floral bracts lanceolate, acute, about equaling or slightly exceeding the ovary, entire, glabrous;
Pedicels 10 mm long.
Sepals nearly free, slightly asymmetric, attenuate to a subulate apex, 20 mm long, green, glabrous;
Petals 35 mm long, connate for 5 mm, long-acuminate, white except for a violet apex; Ovary trigonous, 10 mm long, whitish.
Type. Kautsky s n in Waras Hortus (holotype HB), epiphytic in low woods, near Sao Bento, Espirito Santo, Brazil, flowered in cultivation, May 1971.
Distribution. Known from the type collection only.
