Billbergia Black Velvet

Mature tubular rosette to 24(30) cm high. About 8 black-spined, black leaves (each to 2.5cm. wide) with dark pink spots and narrow silver cross-bands on the reverse. The upright inflorescence to 14 cm. tall has coral red scape bracts and ovaries, coral red sepals tipped blue and steel blue flower petals.

Vic Przetocki 01/25 ... "flowering at the moment (Perth, Western Australia). The plants in flower have been given fertilizer hence the longer leaves, the upside is much larger inflorescences have been produced."
